What it was like
Above the Clouds at Pinot's Palette Temecula is a Sunday afternoon class designed for exactly the kind of afternoon that doesn't feel wasted by the time it ends. The subject is atmospheric: soft blues, pale whites, the suggestion of altitude — the view from above the cloudline when the light is diffuse and the world below has gone quiet.
The instructor walks every seat through it step by step. You don't need art experience. You don't need to know the difference between a flat wash and a dry brush. You arrive, you pick up a brush, and you follow along. The painting comes together over two hours in a way that consistently surprises people who arrived certain they couldn't paint.
Sessions are BYOB. Bring a bottle or two, bring a friend, or come alone — the tables fill with people who showed up for the same reason you did, and the room gets warm and easy fairly quickly.
