Day 3 at Anime Expo is when the convention becomes itself.

Saturday, July 4, 2026 at the Los Angeles Convention Center — the highest-attendance day of the largest anime convention in North America. Over 100,000 fans across the floor, programming running in every corner of the building, the cosplay reaching its peak as the weekend matures.

AX Day 3 is also Independence Day, which means the crowd arriving from across the country doesn't leave when the exhibition hall closes. The evening belongs to the community in a different way. Industry panels have made their announcements. The conventions around the convention — the dinners, the screenings, the meetups — run into the night.

Plan for crowds at the main entrances by midmorning. Artist Alley is fully operational and at its busiest. The Main Events hall programming is where the biggest Day 3 announcements land.

General admission and day badges available. The Saturday ticket moves fastest.

Little Tokyo after dark is already a different city. Add an anime community that claims it on a Thursday night, and you have one of the few Los Angeles experiences that doesn't try to be Coachella. This is a neighborhood event run by people who actually live in the culture — not a convention, not a festival, not a sponsored activation. Just anime fans, good food, and Little Tokyo's block-by-block intimacy. The gathering rotates between Little Tokyo's best spots — restaurants, lounges, and venues that have their own identity outside of event night. The crowd is a mix of casual watchers and people who can quote chapter numbers. Both feel at home. The format keeps things loose: themed nights, cosplay-optional, and enough vendor presence to make it worth staying late. It's the kind of night where you end up talking to strangers about seasonal lineups and leave with three new shows on your watchlist. For the SoCal anime community that lives outside convention season, this is what the in-between looks like. It doesn't peak. It's just consistent. That's the rarer thing. Nearest metro: Little Tokyo/Arts District (A Line). Free street parking after 8pm in most Little Tokyo lots.
