The Magic: The Gathering Marvel Super Heroes Tabletop Release Day is the day the set is officially live at retail — the Friday when the shelves open, the sealed product hits the counters, and the set that everyone has been previewing for weeks is finally available to crack open. Release Day is not a tournament — it's the celebration of a new set arriving. The local game store events on release day vary by store: some run draft pods, some run sealed, some open the day with casual play and prize support for the first players in. The Marvel set brings the full IP catalog into Magic's card frame for the first time, which means every card is legible at two levels — the Magic mechanic and the character it's built around. The first weekend of a new set is when the community gathers to figure out what everything does — the theory meets the card for the first time. The Summer of Salsa has been drawing West Coast Latin music devotees to LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes for years. On July 10, La Verdad -- the premier West Coast Latin ensemble led by Gabriel Gonzalez -- takes the outdoor stage for a 7-11 p.m. set at 501 N Main St in downtown Los Angeles. Before the performance, Dancing 101 with Roberto offers a free beginner salsa lesson at 6 p.m. -- the kind of session where newcomers end up moving next to veterans by the end of the night, no hierarchy. Super DJ Robby opens and bridges the sets. Latin Gold Records curates a vinyl collection for the evening. This is not a concert you watch from a distance. The entire courtyard is a dance floor, the crowd spans first-timers to regulars who have been coming to this series for years, and the Plaza's open-air setting puts the city behind the stage. The Lowrider Super Show comes to the Los Angeles Convention Center for a full-day celebration of lowrider culture, custom car artistry, and the communities that built this uniquely American art form. This show brings together hundreds of meticulously built lowriders, custom trucks, motorcycles, and bicycles from throughout Southern California and beyond. The show floor features hydraulic competitions, airbrushed panels, candy paint displays, wire wheel collections, and interiors that represent decades of craft passed down through families and neighborhoods. This is not a static car show — hydraulic hoppers bounce on schedule, sound systems pound, and the culture is fully on display from open to close. The Los Angeles Convention Center provides 720,000 square feet of indoor show space, meaning no weather concerns and a truly immersive environment. Food vendors and merchandise booths line the show floor. Trophy presentations happen throughout the day across multiple categories, from Best Paint and Best Interior to Best Hydraulics and Hall of Fame. Tickets are available in advance at the door. The Super Bowl has come to Los Angeles before. It has never come to SoFi. That changes February 7, 2027 — at the half-billion-dollar stadium that opened in 2020 and changed what a modern NFL venue can look like: translucent canopy, open-air California design, Hollywood Park campus surrounding it. What Super Bowl week in Los Angeles looks and feels like is unlike any other sporting event on the calendar. The week before the game, Radio Row draws every media personality with a microphone. The NFL Experience fan festival opens to the public at the Convention Center. Celebrity parties are announced and cancelled and announced again. The halftime show rehearsals happen under tight security at the stadium while the surrounding streets fill with brand activations, pop-ups, and spontaneous gatherings of fans who couldn't get tickets but wanted to be near the thing. Los Angeles absorbs the Super Bowl differently than Nashville or Minneapolis — the entertainment industry and sports culture overlap here in a way that produces genuine energy rather than manufactured excitement. Is the Super Bowl worth attending in person? If you have the means and the access, the answer is yes, but the experience is as much about the week as the game. Super Bowl tickets are among the most expensive in sports, and the seat you occupy at game time may matter less than the four days of surrounding events, parties, and city energy that build toward kickoff. For the majority of people who will experience Super Bowl LXI from Los Angeles without attending the game, the city itself becomes a venue. Watch parties at venues across SoCal will be among the most concentrated social events of the year.
