You arrive before the music starts\, the bay is in front of you\, the city skyline is over your left shoulder\, the sun going down over the Pacific. By the time the orchestra plays the first note\, the setting has already done most of the work. The San Diego Symphony performs here across the full summer — classical programs\, film scores\, pops nights\, and headline collaborations with artists the symphony circuit doesn't usually bring to San Diego.\n\nTickets vary by program at theshell.org — single performances available throughout the season. The lawn section is the most social option\; reserved seating gives you the full view. Bring something to sit on for lawn nights. The waterfront breeze arrives in the evening regardless of the afternoon heat. This is the outdoor concert experience in San Diego. Everything else is a substitute.
