About

The Long Beach Jazz Festival is one of Southern California's most beloved outdoor music events, held each summer at Rainbow Lagoon Park in downtown Long Beach. For over three decades, the festival has drawn jazz legends, contemporary artists, and dedicated fans for two days of live performance on the waterfront.

The festival lineup mixes straight-ahead jazz, smooth jazz, soul, R&B, and Latin jazz across two stages. Past headliners have included Chick Corea, George Benson, Hiroshima, Rick Braun, and Boney James. The festival is known for its relaxed, warm atmosphere: blankets and lawn chairs on the grass, great food and wine vendors, and an audience that ranges from first-timers to decade-long regulars.

Rainbow Lagoon Park is one of the best outdoor concert venues in Southern California - flat, accessible, with views of the marina and close to downtown Long Beach restaurants. Parking is available in nearby structures. The Blue Line metro stop at Transit Mall is a 15-minute walk.

The Long Beach Jazz Festival runs in August at Rainbow Lagoon Park, 200 Aquarium Way, Long Beach. Weekend passes and single-day tickets available. Lawn chairs on-site.

Java Joe's Open Mic — Bi-Weekly Tuesdays Coming Soon 4h away
Java Joe's Open Mic — Bi-Weekly Tuesdays
Today · May 12 Java Joe's Coffee House, San Diego…

Java Joe's Open Mic runs every Tuesday from 6:30 to 9:30 PM — one of San Diego's most active weekly music open mics, hosted by Gaby Aparicio, covering all genres from singer-songwriters to acoustic bands to experimental solo performers. Open mics at Java Joe's operate on the community model: you show up, you sign up, you get your time. The host keeps the order honest and the atmosphere welcoming. The crowd is a mix of performers waiting for their slot and genuine listeners who come because the format produces surprises — you never know who is going to get up and do something remarkable on any given Tuesday night. The venue is a coffee house, which means the room listens rather than talks over the performers. That acoustic reality shapes the open mic: quieter instruments are viable, dynamics are audible, and the audience is closer to the performance than in a bar. If you have never performed in public and are looking for the least intimidating entry point in San Diego, this is a strong candidate. Java Joe's, San Diego, CA. Every Tuesday, 6:30-9:30 PM. Free admission. Check Facebook (facebook.com/javajoesopenmic) for address confirmation and any scheduling updates — the venue has had multiple locations over the years. Arrive by 6 PM to sign up for your slot before the list fills.

Old Town Temecula Artisan Market Nights — Summer Series
In 2 days · May 14 – Oct 22 Town Square Park, Old Town Front S…

Every 2nd and 4th Thursday, May through October - Old Town Temecula's Town Square Park transforms into an outdoor gathering where local artisans, food trucks, live music, and Temecula's creative community converge from 5:00 to 9:00 PM. Free to attend. Old Town Temecula Artisan Market Nights is a recurring community market that has become the Thursday evening ritual for Temecula's handcrafted-goods crowd. Local makers set up across the park selling jewelry, ceramics, candles, art prints, clothing, and home goods - all made by people who actually live and create in the Inland Valley. The food truck lineup rotates seasonally, with a consistent bias toward local operators. Live music plays throughout the evening - acoustic, folk, and occasional Latin acts that complement the outdoor setting without drowning conversation. The market is free, open to the public, and runs rain or shine from May through October. Parking is available at the Old Town Temecula Community Theater and surrounding streets. Closest cross-streets: Front Street and Main Street, Old Town Temecula. Stroller-friendly and dog-friendly outdoor setting. If you've been looking for a weeknight gathering that feels like your neighborhood rather than a ticketed event, this is where Temecula's local community actually shows up. Recurs every other Thursday - bring friends, bring a tote bag, and expect to spend too long at the jewelry table.

San Bernardino County Fair 2026
In 2 days · May 14 – May 24 ✨ New 14800 7th St, Victorville, CA 92395

Held each spring at the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds in Victorville, the San Bernardino County Fair is the Inland Empire's annual celebration of High Desert community, agriculture, and entertainment. The fair runs for nearly two weeks and draws visitors from across San Bernardino County and the greater Inland region for livestock shows, carnival rides, demolition derby, a full rodeo program, live country and regional music on the grandstand stage, fair food, and a robust artisan vendor market. The Victorville fairgrounds are easily accessible from the 15 Freeway — roughly 90 minutes from Los Angeles, making it a practical day trip for SoCal visitors who want the full county fair experience. Admission is priced per day; multi-day passes offer better value for families. Junior livestock auctions are a highlight for agricultural community members. The carnival midway runs through the full duration of the fair. Check sbcountyfair.com for the daily event schedule, headliner announcements, and gate pricing before visiting.

Downtown LA Art Walk — May 2026
In 2 days · May 14 Free Historic Core, Spring St & Main St…

The Downtown Los Angeles Art Walk happens on the second Thursday of every month from 6 to 10 PM across the Historic Core galleries, studios, and cultural spaces clustered on Spring Street and Main Street between 3rd and 9th. It has been running continuously since 2004 and draws between 5,000 and 10,000 people on a typical night. The format is self-guided. No wristband, no single entrance, no ticketed main stage. You walk. Galleries extend opening hours and host receptions, live music, and artist talks. Boutiques, bars, and restaurants along the route stay open late. Street art installations appear in parking lots and alleys. Pop-up vendors set up between gallery hops. The crowd skews young and creative — designers, photographers, muralists, and the people who follow them. It is one of the few monthly events in LA that reliably brings out the local art community rather than the art-adjacent tourist circuit. Parking is available in DTLA surface lots and garages. The nearest Metro stops are Pershing Square (B/D Lines) and 7th St/Metro Center (A/E/B/D Lines). Most people walk between venues. Wear comfortable shoes. The event is free to attend — individual galleries may have ticketed openings happening the same night.
