DESCRIPTION:California Extreme is the world's largest free-play classic arcade and pinball show\, held July 17–19\, 2026 at the Santa Clara Convention Center. Over 500 machines — pinball tables and arcade games — are set to free play for the entire weekend. You pay the entry fee and play unlimited.\n\nThe machines span decades: 1970s electromechanical pinball\, the golden age of arcade games (Pac-Man\, Galaga\, Donkey Kong\, Dragon's Lair)\, 1990s fighting games\, obscure prototype machines that never went into production\, and rare imports that never appeared in American arcades. Collectors and restorers bring their personal machines for the show\, and many attend specifically for the opportunity to play machines they've only read about.\n\nThis is not a convention about gaming culture in the abstract. It is a room full of working machines from across the entire history of commercial arcade and pinball\, all on free play\, for three days. The attendees range from vintage gaming historians to parents who grew up on these machines and are experiencing them again for the first time in thirty years alongside their kids.\n\nThe Santa Clara Convention Center is at 5001 Great America Pkwy\, accessible from US-101 and I-880.
