DESCRIPTION:Flowers\, in the days before the lunar new year\, are not decoration — hoa Tet is the point\, and watching an entire community buy them at once\, in one sprawling market\, is what stays with you long after the food is gone.\n\nThis is the largest Vietnamese Lunar New Year celebration anywhere outside Vietnam\, and it takes over the Asian Garden Mall and every lot around it in the middle of Little Saigon. Flower markets\, carnival rides\, banh chung and pho and banh mi and che\, nightly stages running Vietnamese pop acts\, traditional performers\, and pageant rounds. Lion and dragon dancers move through the crowd. Firecrackers mark the turns of the night. The crowd is families three generations deep doing what they have always done\, with the rest of Southern California welcome to come see it.\n\nFree to walk in\, on Bolsa Ave in Westminster. The lots fill early\, so take transit or rideshare.\n\nGo with someone whose family calendar does not start in January.
