Every Sunday the school's parking lot transforms into one of LA's most creatively vibrant outdoor markets\, a mix of vintage clothing\, handmade goods\, live music\, street art\, and independent vendors spanning the full range of LA's cultural eclecticism. The Melrose Trading Post operates on a different frequency than the larger monthly markets. It is a weekly ritual for the community\, the kind of place regulars return to every Sunday like a neighborhood bar. The crowd is distinctly West Hollywood: fashion-forward\, creative\, LGBTQ-welcoming\, and perpetually interesting. Vintage denim\, 90s sportswear\, handcrafted jewelry\, indie prints\, and rare vinyl appear alongside pop-up food vendors and live performers who set up without announcement. Proceeds from vendor fees support Greenway Arts Alliance programming at Fairfax High School\, giving this market a community purpose beyond the transaction.
