DESCRIPTION:Major League Pickleball is returning to San Diego and the distinction that matters is this: amateur players compete at the same venue\, on the same courts\, the same weekend the professionals play.\n\nThe MLP San Diego 2026 tournament runs July 16–19 at Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego\, bringing the world's top professional coed pickleball teams for the league's seventh regular-season event. The teams competing include the LA Mad Drops\, the Florida Smash\, the SoCal Hard Eights\, and nine other franchises — athletes who in many cases left professional tennis careers to compete in a sport that rewards hand speed\, court intelligence\, and the ability to reset a point from a disadvantaged position.\n\nThe Minor League Pickleball tournament runs alongside the professional event. Amateur teams register and compete on courts adjacent to the pros\, in the same building\, during the same four days. The experience of playing where the best players in your sport are also playing — that crossover is specific to MLP and to the format they've built.\n\nIf you have been playing at your local rec center for two years and want to see what the ceiling actually looks like\, July 16 is the answer.
