DESCRIPTION:The 626 Night Market started as a bet that the San Gabriel Valley food culture deserved a stage larger than any single restaurant could provide. Since 2012 it has become one of the largest Asian American night markets in the country\, not because of marketing\, but because it answered a hunger that had no other venue.\n\nAugust at Santa Anita Park is the summer peak. 250 or more vendors across three nights: Taiwanese sausage on a stick\, Japanese milk bread\, Filipino desserts\, Korean corn dogs\, Thai rolled ice cream. The vendors who travel the 626 circuit from city to city show up here with new items they have been testing all summer. The regulars know which booths are circuit staples and which ones are August-only.\n\nThis is not a food court. The energy is darker\, louder\, and more alive than that. It feels like a night market because it is one\, the real thing\, built by a community that has been doing this longer than most American cities have had ramen on their menus. Come hungry. Come with people. The line for the good stuff moves faster than it looks.
