He collected 40\,000 of them and then built a museum that looks like it landed from one of those worlds.\n\nThe Lucas Museum of Narrative Art opens September 22\, 2026 in Los Angeles\, and it is not what you think it is. This is not a Star Wars museum. This is an argument — a 300\,000-square-foot\, 11-acre argument — that the stories we dismiss as entertainment are actually the most powerful art form humans have ever created. That Norman Rockwell belongs next to Monet. That a Miyazaki storyboard is as important as a Rembrandt sketch. That narrative art — the kind that makes you feel something before you understand why — deserves a cathedral.\n\nThe inaugural exhibitions feature over 1\,200 works across 35 galleries. The building itself\, designed by MAD Architects\, rises from the earth like something between a spaceship and a sand dune. Free admission for children under 17.
