Top Gun: Maverick plays on the giant screen at the Hollywood Bowl on August 15 while the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra performs Harold Faltermeyer\, Lady Gaga\, and Hans Zimmer's Oscar-winning score live. Conducted by Lorne Balfe\, the orchestra turns what was already a sensory overload in IMAX into something that vibrates through the wooden bench beneath you and the hills above you. The film won the Academy Award for Best Sound\, and hearing it performed live in a natural amphitheater is the closest you will get to sitting in the cockpit without a flight suit. This is the Bowl at its best — a film screening that becomes a concert that becomes a communal experience that 17\,500 people share under the same sky.
