DESCRIPTION:Grief is easier to carry when it is shared\, and no tradition understands that better than Dia de los Muertos — the day the dead are not mourned but welcomed back with marigolds\, candles\, their favorite foods\, and photographs propped on ofrendas built with aching care. Oceanside throws one of the coast's most beautiful versions\, filling Pier View Way with hand-built altars\, face paint\, folklorico\, and the low golden light coming off the pier. It is somber and joyful at once\, a whole community teaching its kids that the people we lose are never really gone as long as we keep setting a place for them. For the Latino families who have carried this for generations\, it is sacred\; for everyone else\, it is a lesson in how to hold loss with beauty.
