He just slowed down every time a Chevelle passed\, and you learned the word torque before you learned the word mortgage.\n\nFor thirty-one years\, Brand Boulevard in Glendale has shut down for one July night and filled curb to curb with three hundred to four hundred pre-1985 classics\, modified imports\, and exotics that people have spent entire weekends detailing for this single appearance. Forty-five thousand people show up. Not to buy anything. Not to race anything. Just to walk slowly past machines that someone loved enough to keep running for forty years\, and to nod at the stranger next to them who gets it.\n\nThe thing nobody warns you about: the sound. Four blocks of idling V8s at sunset\, rumbling under live music\, is a frequency your chest recognizes before your ears do. Vehicle registration includes a swag bag with the event t-shirt.
