DESCRIPTION:There's a specific restlessness that sets in a few weeks after a new set drops. The format cracks open\, everyone has a theory about what the best deck really is\, and there are nowhere near enough people around you who care as much as you do. A Regional is where that restlessness finally has somewhere to go. For one weekend the people who've been grinding the ladder and testing lines at 1am are all in the same room\, and the top tables play at a level worth watching even if you never register — decks built around a single counter nobody saw coming\, rounds that come down to the last ninety seconds with travel points and a World Championship invite riding on the board state. Judges in official regalia move the aisles with practiced calm. The side-event area runs all day for anyone who dropped from the main or just wants reps against strangers who are better than their locals. San Diego hosts the only Southern California Regional of the 2027 season\, May 28–30. The exact venue is announced closer to the date — the last two San Diego Regionals ran at the San Diego Convention Center downtown — and registration opens on RK9 a few months out.
