SUMMARY:Satin Jackets with Beard & Stache — Music Box San Diego
DESCRIPTION:Some nights the city gets quiet enough that you can hear what it actually sounds like\, and it sounds like a bassline at 118 BPM with a French filter on it. That's a Satin Jackets night.\n\nTim Bernhardt built Satin Jackets out of Hamburg\, Germany\, on one premise: nu-disco doesn't need to be ironic. It can be earnest. It can be warm. It can sound like the feeling you had at the end of a summer night when you were nineteen and everything ahead of you was still possible. His production is lush\, atmospheric\, and unmistakably analog — warm synths\, slow-building grooves\, the kind of music that makes strangers talk to each other on the dance floor because the room feels safe enough.\n\nMusic Box in San Diego hosts the show on September 18 at 9 PM\, 21+ only\, with local selectors Beard and Stache opening. Music Box is a two-story venue in Little Italy with a Funktion-One sound system that a lot of touring DJs specifically request because it handles low-end warmth better than anything else in the city. The nu-disco and house crowd in SD is small but deeply loyal — these are the people who know every venue's sound system by name and show up because the booking is good\, not because of the headcount. Tickets around $26.
