Taste of Gaslamp exists to break the pattern.\n\nFor thirty years\, this self-guided food tour has turned 16 blocks of downtown San Diego into a choose-your-own-adventure for people who eat with their whole personality. Twenty-plus restaurants open their doors on September 12 with signature small bites — not samples\, not scraps\, but the dish each chef actually wants you to try. You walk at your own pace from 1 PM to 4 PM\, and the only rule is that you can't go back to the same place twice (you will anyway).\n\nGeneral admission gets you in the door everywhere for $50. VIP adds exclusive bites\, specialty drinks\, and the kind of access that makes you feel like you know someone.
