DESCRIPTION:September in Pacific Beach smells like salt and sunscreen and the last good weekends before the marine layer wins. The Pacific Beach Oktoberfest drops a German beer hall onto the sand — or close enough — at 710 Beach Club\, and for one Saturday evening the neighborhood that lives in board shorts puts on lederhosen and pretends this is Munich. The event runs from 4 PM to 10 PM on September 26 and features craft beer pours from local San Diego breweries alongside imported German lagers\, bratwurst and pretzels from vendors who know their audience\, and a DJ lineup that starts with oompah and ends wherever PB ends\, which is usually louder than planned. What makes this one worth the walk down Garnet: it is the only Oktoberfest in San Diego that happens ON the beach. OB does theirs inland in October. El Cajon goes traditional at the German Club. La Mesa goes big. PB goes salty. The crowd skews young\, the venue is open-air\, and by 8 PM the line between Oktoberfest and a Pacific Beach Saturday night has dissolved completely.
