SUMMARY:56th Annual Cabrillo Festival 2026 — Free Cultural Celebration at Naval Base Point Loma
DESCRIPTION:A replica sixteenth-century galleon comes around the point under full sail\, and for a few minutes four centuries collapse into a single afternoon. Conversation stops. Phones come up late\, because nobody quite believes the timing until it is already happening in front of them.\n\nThe landing has been re-enacted on this stretch of water for over half a century\, and it is still the moment that makes the whole waterfront go quiet. But the day is larger than its anchor scene. Music carries down the shoreline all afternoon. Dancers perform traditions from the four cultures that met here — Native American\, Mexican\, Portuguese\, Spanish. Children's activities fill the lawn with the specific chaos that only works outdoors. Every food vendor is serving something learned from someone who learned it from someone else.\n\nNo admission\, no parking fee\, and a setting that makes you forget you are being taught anything.\n\nBring the kid who asks how anybody ever knew where they were going.
