SUMMARY:Downtown Chula Vista Día de los Muertos Celebration 2026
DESCRIPTION:Third Avenue in Chula Vista does not look like this on any other day. On the first Sunday in November\, the six-block stretch from Third Avenue through Memorial Park transforms into an ofrenda-lined corridor where the marigolds are real\, the face paint is professional\, and the abuelas in the crowd are not performing their grief — they are sharing it with a community that understands it does not need to be explained. The community ofrenda on Davidson Street invites you to bring a photo of someone you have lost and pin it to the altar alongside strangers' photos\, and there is something in that act of public remembrance that the private altars at home cannot replicate. Live music at four locations\, a car show\, artisan vendors at Mercado by Las Jefas Market\, and the Catrín and Catrina costume contest that gets more elaborate every year. Free and family-friendly. Sunday\, November 1\, from 3 PM to 7:30 PM.
LOCATION:Third Ave & E St\, Chula Vista\, CA 91910
