This is the grassroots competition where the local surf community shows up with board wax on their steering wheels and sand in their car seats\, and the judging is close enough that you can hear the scores called from the beach.\n\nThe WSA circuit is where SoCal surfers cut their competitive teeth -- the pathway from dawn patrol regular to ranked amateur.
