Hyperpop is less a genre than a shared childhood.\n\nPop Crypt is one of the LA parties built for it — PC Music lineage\, pitched vocals\, songs that fall apart on purpose halfway through\, and a crowd where the average age is low and the outfit commitment is extremely high. The scene grew up on Discord and SoundCloud\, which means the room is full of people who have talked to each other for years and are meeting in person for the third or fourth time.\n\nHalloween weekend is the natural home for a scene this theatrical.
