SUMMARY:Self Help Graphics Día de los Muertos 2026 — East Los Angeles
DESCRIPTION:For over fifty years\, Self Help Graphics has been the place where East LA remembers out loud. Not quietly\, not politely\, not behind glass — out loud\, on the street\, in color\, with printmaking ink still drying on the posters and the smell of pan de muerto mixing with screen-print solvent in the November air.\n\nThis is the longest-running public Día de los Muertos commemoration in the country\, and it has never been a curated museum event. It is a neighborhood tradition that professional artists and first-time altar builders share without any sense that one of those is more legitimate than the other. The 2026 celebration runs November 7 and 8 at the East LA Civic Center Park\, and the season begins weeks earlier with workshops\, exhibitions\, and the annual Noche de Ofrenda — an evening altar ceremony that is one of the most quietly devastating community rituals in Los Angeles.\n\nExpect altars built by families and by collectives. Expect Aztec ceremonial dance. Expect a mercado of local artisans who have been setting up at this same event since before you were born. Expect to feel something you did not plan to feel on a Saturday in November.\n\nNovember 7-8\, 2026 at East LA Civic Center Park\, 4801 E 3rd St\, Los Angeles\, CA 90022. Free admission. selfhelpgraphics.com for full season schedule.
