SUMMARY:Del Mar Fall Racing Season 2026 — Opening Day
DESCRIPTION:Hooves on turf against the Pacific. That sound only exists at Del Mar in November — hooves on turf against the Pacific\, the murmur of a crowd that dresses up because the occasion demands it\, the starter's bell that makes two thousand strangers hold their breath at the same time. The fall meet is smaller than the summer circus. That is the entire point.\n\nDel Mar Thoroughbred Club opens its 2026 fall season on November 6 with a four-weekend run through the 29th\, racing Fridays through Sundays. Post time is 12:30 PM. The fall card features a pair of Grade I offerings — the Hollywood Turf Cup and the Seabiscuit Handicap — and the intimate atmosphere that summer visitors never quite find. The grandstand regulars know each other by name. The $2 exacta window regulars know each other by superstition.\n\nThe fall meet is also where the smart bettors work. Smaller fields mean more readable races. The turf course plays different in November light. If you have ever wanted to learn how to read a past performance sheet\, this is the place to do it — not in a simulcast room\, but beside the rail where you can feel the ground shake.\n\nDel Mar Racetrack\, 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd\, Del Mar\, CA 92014. Fridays through Sundays\, November 6 through November 29. General admission at the gate.
