SUMMARY:Death From Above 1979
DESCRIPTION:Two people should not be able to make that much noise\, and the argument about how they do it — bass through distortion until it functions as a guitar\, drums that never let up — has kept a specific 2004 record in rotation for twenty years. The band broke up almost immediately after making it\, spent years apart\, and came back to find an audience that had grown rather than shrunk in their absence. Live it is loud in a way that is genuinely physical\; the low end occupies the room rather than filling it. A Tuesday show means a crowd that took the night off work for this. Music at 8:00 PM in Ventura on East Thompson Boulevard. Records that get passed between friends for two decades build the kind of room where strangers already have something to say to each other.
