SUMMARY:Balkans
DESCRIPTION:Bands that broke up before anyone was paying attention sometimes come back to discover a small\, stubborn audience kept the records alive without them\, and that is a stranger and better thing to return to than fame. This Atlanta group made jittery\, sharp guitar music early in the last decade\, disappeared\, and has resurfaced to rooms full of people who found the songs years after the fact through somebody else's recommendation. The playing is tighter than the loose recordings suggest. A Thursday in a Highland Park lodge hall\, upstairs\, wood floors\, a few hundred capacity and a balcony that fills late. Music at 8:00 PM at 104 N Avenue 56. Reunions at this scale draw a specific crowd — people who are pleased rather than nostalgic\, which changes the whole temperature of a room.
