SUMMARY:Son Volt
DESCRIPTION:The band that formed out of the wreckage of an argument about what country music could be has now been going considerably longer than the one that caused it\, and the catalog holds up better than the mythology suggests. Jay Farrar writes in a register that never lifts\, which makes the occasional moment of warmth land like a change in weather. Thirty years on the material about work\, roads and the middle of the country reads less like nostalgia and more like documentation. Live the band plays it straight and loud. Highland Park's upstairs Masonic hall\, wood floors\, high ceiling. Music at 8:00 PM at 104 N Avenue 56\, a Thursday. He plays a desert date on the same run\, and a number of people in this room will be at both.
