SUMMARY:Anaheim Ducks vs. Colorado Avalanche
DESCRIPTION:The stretch between Christmas and New Year's is the only week of the year with no assigned purpose. Nobody is sure what day it is\, the fridge is full of things nobody wants\, and everyone is politely waiting for ordinary life to start again. A five o'clock hockey game is a genuinely good answer to that week. Colorado is in town\, which matters more than the standings suggest: the Avalanche are usually among the fastest teams anyone will watch all season\, and seeing them from the lower bowl is the clearest way to understand how much quicker the professional version of this sport is than the one that arrives through a television. Speed does not survive the broadcast. Holiday Sunday also makes the trip painless — the 57 is empty and parking behaves for once\, which on any other date it does not. Ducks and Avalanche on the twenty-seventh\, a Sunday that otherwise has nothing in it\, with the first puck at five.
