SUMMARY:Dave Hause and The Mermaid\, Crimewave 66\, Static on the Stereo
DESCRIPTION:Punk singers who make it to forty tend to write better songs and draw smaller rooms\, and the people still in those rooms have usually been there the whole time. That is not sad. That is the best crowd in music.\n\nDave Hause came out of Philadelphia hardcore\, spent years in The Loved Ones\, and now writes heartland rock with the volume of someone who never stopped playing basements. The Mermaid is his actual brother on guitar\, which is audible in the harmonies in a way no session player ever manages. Crimewave 66 and Static on the Stereo open\, and the bill runs long.\n\nThe reliable moment comes when he puts the guitar down and does a verse unamplified off the front of the stage. It only works in a room this small\, and everyone in it knows it only works in a room this small\, and that is the agreement.\n\n21+. Doors 7pm\, music 7:30. $22-$25\, San Diego.
