SUMMARY:Theo Katzman
DESCRIPTION:Being the guitarist in a band people lose their minds over is a strange platform for a solo career. Most never bother. The ones who do tend to be better songwriters than the day job ever let on.\n\nTheo Katzman plays in Vulfpeck\, which is how most people arrive\, and then writes solo records that have almost nothing to do with it: earnest\, melodic\, occasionally furious songs about getting older that sit closer to seventies singer-songwriter records than to funk. Live he plays them harder than recorded\, and the crowd that came for the Vulfpeck connection tends to leave talking about something else entirely.\n\nA nine o'clock start on a Friday in Little Italy means the room is full by the time he walks on\, and this is a performer who notices and uses it. He talks between songs. It is worth arriving for.\n\nDoors 8pm\, show 9pm. $32\, India Street\, San Diego.
