DESCRIPTION:Some bands sound like two people who are delighted with each other\, and sitting inside that is a completely different experience from watching talent.\n\nstrongboi makes small\, warm\, faintly ridiculous pop songs. You can hear the room they were recorded in\, and usually at least one decision a committee would have taken out. It travels well outdoors\, because none of it needs a dark room to do its work.\n\nSix o'clock on a Friday in March\, in a downtown lot made of shipping containers\, is close to the ideal setting for that. People come straight from work\, the light is still good\, there are dogs\, and nobody is performing the act of being at a show. The bar is outside. The stage is outside. You can hear the trolley go past.\n\nEast Village\, March 12. The early slots on this stage are where a lot of this city's bands got looked at for the first time\, so turning up at six is not the cautious option.
