SUMMARY:Failure - The Rising Skyline Tour
DESCRIPTION:Getting rediscovered thirty years late does something strange to a band. They spent the nineties being the group that other\, bigger bands cited as their favourite\, broke up more or less unnoticed\, and then found out over the following two decades that the records had quietly become load-bearing for a lot of people. Now they tour to rooms full of listeners who mostly arrived after the fact. The sound is enormous and slow and built out of guitars that do not sound like guitars\, which on a good system in a high-ceilinged downtown theatre is the entire reason to be there rather than listening at home. Expect a crowd that stands very still and knows every transition\, including the ones between tracks that were never singles. Seven on Friday on South Hill Street. Los Angeles has a specific nineties alt-rock lineage that never got its due at the time\, and most of those bands are playing again now.
