DESCRIPTION:Techno people are not party people and the confusion between the two has caused everyone a lot of trouble. One is a night out. The other is closer to a practice\, done standing up\, in the dark\, for five hours\, usually alone in a crowd and entirely on purpose.\n\nHere is the thing that gives the game away about this particular night: the headline is a record label. Not a person. People will pay seventy-nine dollars and stand in a room until three in the morning on the strength of a logo\, because twenty-odd years of that logo has meant something specific and the roster underneath it is almost beside the point. Very few things in music still work that way\, and none of them are accidents.\n\nDoors at ten\, out at three\, on Electronics Place. The Los Angeles techno crowd is small\, repetitive and extremely good at finding each other\, and the December nights are the ones they tell newcomers to start with.
