SUMMARY:Brooklyn Vegan Presents: Swervedriver - raise at 35
DESCRIPTION:Thirty-five years is long enough for a record that got politely ignored to become the one everybody claims they were into. This one genuinely was overlooked\, filed next to bands it did not sound much like\, and it spent decades being passed between people as a correction to the official history of that era. Playing it start to finish is a particular kind of promise. No surprises\, no deep cuts nobody wants\, just the sequence in the order it was built\, which turns out to matter enormously for an album that was assembled as a single long argument. The guitars are heavier live than the recording ever admitted. What you notice in the room is how many people came alone\, which tends to happen with records that people had a private relationship with rather than a social one. By the third song that stops feeling lonely and starts feeling like the opposite.
