SUMMARY:Two Runner
DESCRIPTION:Two people\, a banjo and a fiddle\, and absolutely nowhere to hide. Stripped to that\, music either holds a room or it does not\, and the ones who can do it tend to have learned the repertoire the old way\, from people rather than from recordings. The songs are mostly about work\, weather and dying\, which sounds grim and plays as the opposite\, because they were written by people who needed them to be sung in company. That is the thing that does not survive on a record: this material was built for a room\, and specifically for a room where the audience is close enough to be part of the sound. Expect harmonies tight enough to be slightly unnerving and a fair amount of laughing between numbers. Then expect to drive home wanting to learn an instrument\, which you will not do\, but the wanting is pleasant and lasts a few days.
