SUMMARY:Dopethrone\, -(16)-\, Armed for Apocalypse
DESCRIPTION:Slow and heavy is considerably harder to play than fast and heavy\, and much harder to sit inside. There is nowhere for the listener to go. Fast music carries you along whether you consent or not\; this stuff just establishes a weight and then stays there\, and either you give in to it in the first ten minutes or you spend the set waiting for something to change\, which it will not. The people who love it tend to describe the experience in physical terms rather than musical ones\, and they are not being dramatic. At the right volume\, in a room this small\, it is closer to weather than to entertainment. Three bands of it in one night is an endurance proposition that the audience treats as the entire point. Earplugs are not optional and nobody there will think less of you. The ringing afterwards is the receipt.
