SUMMARY:Fox Stevenson & Mystery Skulls
DESCRIPTION:Producers who sing and bands that program are both slightly suspect to purists\, which is usually a sign something interesting is happening. This bill puts two of them together\, and what they share is a refusal to pick a side: the songs have choruses built for a crowd and the production underneath belongs to a club. Live that resolves better than it reads. The electronic half means the low end is doing serious work\, and the song half means there is somewhere to go emotionally rather than just a series of builds. The crowd is correspondingly mixed\, and you can spot the split by who dances and who watches the hands. Both groups leave having enjoyed slightly different shows. Worth it for anybody who has been told their taste is incoherent and would like a room where it is the normal arrangement.
