SUMMARY:Other Lives
DESCRIPTION:Bands from places with a lot of sky tend to make records that sound like the place instead of the band. The arrangements here are built in layers\, strings and brass and a drum sound recorded in a big empty space\, and they move slowly enough that a distracted listener will mistake them for background. In a room\, with the volume where it should be\, that is impossible. The slowness becomes the point and the build at the end of a song arrives like weather coming across a plain. This is music for people who like being made to wait. The audience is quiet in a way that is now rare and faintly startling\, and standing in it for ninety minutes resets something. Go alone if you can\, and do not make plans for afterwards.
