SUMMARY:World News
DESCRIPTION:Booking a show five months out is an act of optimism on everybody's part\, the band's included. By the time it happens the records they are touring will be old to them and possibly new to you\, which is the normal and slightly sad asymmetry of small-band touring. What that long lead actually buys is the rarest thing in a calendar like this: something to look forward to that is not in the next three weeks. Most of what any listings site shows you is imminent\, and imminence is its own kind of pressure. This is the opposite. Put it somewhere you will see it in March\, forget about it until then\, and let it be the thing that turns an ordinary week into one with a plan in it. The band will be better by then too.
