SUMMARY:Boombox
DESCRIPTION:The argument about whether a person behind a laptop is performing gets settled quickly when somebody picks up a guitar over the top of it. This is that hybrid: grooves built like dance records\, played by people with instruments in their hands\, which means the arrangements go somewhere unscripted and the same song is different on consecutive nights. That attracts two crowds who do not normally share a room. One arrived through clubs and one arrived through jam bands and taper culture\, and the overlap turns out to be large and extremely good-natured. The slide guitar is the thing nobody expects. Standing in a small room while a four-on-the-floor groove gets taken apart live is a specific pleasure that no DJ set can offer\, and it is worth a Saturday.
