DESCRIPTION:Instrumental music with no vocal to hang onto has to work harder to hold a room\, and the usual solution is to add a real instrument and let a human being carry the melody. A violin over programmed drums should be twee and somehow is not. What it produces is music that functions equally well as something to pay close attention to and something to be inside of\, which is why this particular act has an audience that includes people who otherwise agree on nothing. Expect a seated-adjacent crowd that stands still for long stretches and does not mind. Downtempo gets dismissed as background\, usually by people who have only heard it as background. In a room at volume\, with the violin in front\, it becomes the opposite of that\, and the hour afterwards is unusually quiet in a good way.
