DESCRIPTION:Goth in Spanish is its own tradition and almost nobody in the English-language music press has ever acknowledged it exists. The scene runs through Mexico City and Monterrey and Los Angeles\, has done for decades\, and the records sound different from their British ancestors: more melodic\, more openly romantic\, less interested in detachment. For a large number of people in Southern California this is the music of a specific adolescence\, and chances to hear it live in a real room are rare enough that people drive from three counties over. Expect the crowd to be dressed with total commitment and considerably warmer than the aesthetic suggests. This is a small-venue booking that will be talked about by people who were there\, which is usually the sign that something has been underpriced.
