SUMMARY:ZHU (Opening Party)
DESCRIPTION:Opening nights at a new venue are worth attending for reasons that have nothing to do with the lineup. Nothing has settled yet: the sound is being learned in real time\, the staff do not know the room\, and the crowd has no established way of behaving in it. That uncertainty produces an atmosphere a mature venue cannot manufacture. Booking a genuinely well-known name for it is a statement of intent about what the space means to be. The music is moody\, vocal-led\, built on a sound that was everywhere a decade ago and has aged better than its imitators. Electronics Place is an unglamorous address for an ambitious room. Go early and look at the space before it fills\, because this is the only night it will ever be new.
