MTG Friday Night Magic — TCS Rockets

The December 19th Friday Night Magic at TCS Rockets is the penultimate FNM of the year — the last one before the holiday week clears the calendar. The Magic community doesn't take holidays seriously, and neither does TCS. The format rotates between Draft, Standard, and Sealed, but the crowd that shows up for late-December FNM is the crowd that has been coming all year, which means the level of play is the level that twelve months of Friday nights produces.

TCS Rockets is one of San Diego's most active Magic venues. The competitive players who use Friday nights to stay sharp between events are regulars here. The draft pods run efficiently. The Standard grinders know each other by now. Showing up at the end of December and playing a few rounds against this group is a different experience than showing up in January — the table has context, the games have history, the play is better for it.
