About

Every year, the harbor fills with chrome. Not the polished-for-a-dealership kind — the kind that somebody spent a Saturday morning with a rag and a can of polish, the kind that reflects the face of a person who knows exactly what year the factory stopped making that particular shade of candy apple red.

The 27th Annual All-American Car Show takes over Embarcadero North at Seaport Village for one summer morning. All vehicles welcome — domestic, foreign, exotic, trucks, motorcycles. No era excluded. No make turned away. Registration opens at 7:30 AM and the show runs until 3:00 PM with live music, vendors, food trucks, door prizes, a 50/50 raffle, and enough conversations about engine displacement to last you until next August.

Admission is free. 100% of proceeds from registration and auctions benefit veterans' organizations. If you're the kind of person who slows down for a Chevelle in traffic, or who has opinions about split bumpers, or who simply likes watching people light up when they talk about something they built with their hands — this is your Saturday. The harbor. The cars. The people who keep them alive. Free to spectate. Impossible to leave quickly.

LFG CON 2026 — Los Angeles Tabletop Gaming Convention
In 11 days · Aug 13 – Aug 16 See lfg-con.com for badge options 2500 Hollywood Way, Burbank, CA 91…

The magic of an open gaming convention is that no one is running a side event for you. You walk in, you find a table, and you play what you want with whoever wants to play it. LFG CON is four days of that. Los Angeles' dedicated tabletop gaming convention — board games, tabletop RPGs, miniatures, trading card games, and everything in between. The 2026 edition runs August 13-16 at the Marriott Burbank. Community-run and designed for the players who know what they want to play before they arrive. The game library is available throughout: check out a game, find a table, play. Organized tournaments run alongside the open gaming. The RPG schedule runs multi-session campaigns across all four days — pre-registration available for the longer formats. This is not a show floor with demos. It is a room full of tables where gaming is the whole point. No spectators. Just games. Marriott Burbank, August 13-16, 2026.

IchigoCon 2026 — Gaming + Anime Oxnard

Ventura County has spent years being the place you leave to find your people — an hour to San Diego, an hour to LA, a drive and a crowd on the other end. IchigoCon is the answer the community built for itself: proof that you don't need to be in a major metro to have a real fandom gathering, just people who care enough to make one. It's run by the nonprofit behind the Oxnard Performing Arts Center, which gives it a genuine arts-and-culture weight most hotel-hall cons never get — a single, packed day of gaming tournaments, anime screenings, voice-actor guests, a vendor hall, and a cosplay competition, all tightly run. For fans from Ventura, Santa Barbara, and the western Valley, this is the home con, the place local fandom actually forms instead of just briefly gathering in someone else's crowd. Oxnard Performing Arts Center, August 15 — a single-day pass, details and cosplay-contest registration at IchigoCon's page as the date nears. The show that deserves more attention than it gets, which is exactly the kind that grows.

Somewhere between the person who has every card graded and sleeved, and the one who pulls out a binder at dinner to show what they found, is the person Trading Card Con was designed for. Trading Card Con San Diego runs October 2-4, 2026 -- three days of buying, selling, trading, and being around people who take the hobby as seriously as you do. Badge tiers range from $25 day passes to $200 weekend League Badges, which says something about who shows up: this is not a flea market with trading cards at one table. It is a dedicated collector event built around the TCG community. The experience covers Pokemon, Magic: The Gathering, sports cards, and the full range of collectibles that orbit the hobby. Tournament play, vendor halls, and the kind of floor conversations that happen when you put serious collectors in the same room. San Diego's collector community is active and established -- the same scene that fills Front Row Card Show in September and Card Party earlier in the year. If you have been waiting for an October event that treats the hobby as the point, not the backdrop, this is the one. Three days. Full collector floor. San Diego. Weekend Badge: $40 in advance. Day Badge: $25. Gym Badge ($100) and League Badge ($200) for full experience tiers. Tickets at tradingcardcon.com.

Pokemon TCG City Championship — San Diego Fall
Sep 13, 2026 $20 7626 Miramar Rd Suite 3900, San Di…

By the time fall comes around, the format has stopped being a mystery — the new sets have been picked apart, the regional results already told everyone what's good, and the only question left is whether you can pilot your deck better than the person across the table who prepared just as hard. A City Championship is where you find out, and there's a specific tension to a room full of people who all did their homework. Fall Cities carry a different weight than the spring events. The game's had time to breathe, the tier-one decks are known, and every round becomes a read — not just of the sixty cards opposite you but of the person shuffling them. TCS Rockets runs it with the infrastructure that makes the day feel like the event it is: organized rounds, real judges, a side-event area that keeps the day alive after you've finished your bracket. Large enough to be real, local enough to be yours. TCS Rockets, 7626 Miramar Road, San Diego — September 13, $20 to enter. Register at play.pokemon.com or at the door. If you've been building around the fall format, this is the room to test it in.

SoCal Pokemon Regional Championship — Anaheim 2026
In 6 days · Aug 8 – Aug 9 Disneyland Hotel Convention Center…

The room smells like fresh card sleeves and barely contained adrenaline. Every table is a quiet war between two people who've been thinking about this matchup since Tuesday. The SoCal Pokemon Regional Championship returns to the Disneyland Hotel Convention Center on August 8-9, 2026 — the largest competitive Pokemon TCG event in Southern California. This isn't a casual league night. Regionals draw hundreds of players across Junior, Senior, and Master divisions, all competing for Championship Points, prize money, and the kind of bragging rights that only matter to people who understand why they matter. The side event schedule is stacked: open play, casual leagues, vendor floor access with Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece TCG, Disney Lorcana, and Dragon Ball Z Fusion World dealers. If you've ever explained to someone that your deck isn't meta but it works — this is where you prove it or retire the line. Two days, hundreds of players, and the only convention center where you can buy a Charizard and ride Space Mountain in the same afternoon. Registration through the official Play Pokemon event page. Spectator access included with event entry.

There's a specific joy in cracking a pack of cards nobody has seen in play yet — no strategy guide exists, no one has "solved" anything, and for one weekend the newest Magic set belongs to whoever reads it fastest at the table. That's a Prerelease. Magic's Hobbit set brings Middle-earth into the frame — Bilbo, Gandalf, Smaug, the One Ring — and you meet all of it the way it's meant to be met: six sealed packs, a deck built on the spot, a table of complete strangers figuring it out together in real time. Nobody has an advantage because nobody has seen these cards do their thing yet. By the third round you'll have opinions, inside jokes, and at least one story about a Smaug you should have blocked. There and back again, in card form. Text it to the friend who quotes the movies from memory.

Nobody at the table has played with these cards before, and that's the entire appeal. A Prerelease is the weekend you get Magic's newest set before it's officially out — six sealed packs, a deck you build from whatever you crack, and a pod of strangers all solving the same puzzle at once. This one drops Middle-earth onto the table: Bilbo and Gandalf, the One Ring, and a Smaug card that will wreck you at least once before you work out the answer to it. Sealed is the great equalizer — no netdeck, no advantage, just you and what the packs gave you. You show up alone and leave having spent four hours with people who now also have strong opinions about how to beat a dragon. There and back again, in card form. Bring the friend who quotes the movies from memory.

San Diego Summer Game Jam 2026 — IGDA at Mesa College
In 5 days · Aug 7 Free San Diego Mesa College, 7250 Mesa …

Forty-eight hours. One theme. A room full of people who cannot stop building things. The IGDA San Diego Summer Game Jam drops you into Mesa College on a Friday evening, reveals a theme at 6 PM, and dares you to ship a playable game by Sunday at 7 PM. Professionals, hobbyists, first-timers — the door is open to anyone 18 or older who wants to make something from nothing in a weekend. Teams of up to six, or solo if you are that kind of person. No pre-built assets. No recycled code. Everything starts from zero when the theme hits. This is not a conference. There are no panels. There is no networking hour with name tags. There is brunch on Saturday and dinner provided, because the organizers know nobody is leaving the building. The game showcase on Sunday night is the only part that feels like a presentation — and by then, every team is running on caffeine and the specific kind of pride that comes from watching something you did not know you could build actually work. IGDA San Diego has been running these jams for years. The community is tight enough that regulars greet each other, loose enough that a newcomer with a laptop and an idea can walk in and be on a team by 7 PM Friday. Free to jam remotely. In-person at Mesa College, San Diego. August 7–9, 2026.

San Diego Pinball Open 2026
In 6 days · Aug 8 – Aug 9 Dave & Buster's San Diego, 2931 Ca…

Watching someone play a vintage table well is watching a person understand a machine more intimately than its designer ever intended - specific cabinets with specific quirks that the regulars have mapped across hundreds of games. Competitive pinball is not what most people picture when they hear competitive gaming, and that gap is exactly the reason to come. The players are serious and the machines have histories. Because it is an open format, spectators can watch the tournament tables while playing the surrounding machines - you are inside the event without being required to compete. IFPA sanctioning means the rankings are real and the players traveled to be here, and Dave & Buster's has the floor space and machine selection to run it properly. The open runs across both days; finals are Saturday evening. Show up if you have any curiosity about this at all. Dave & Buster's San Diego, 2931 Camino del Rio North, August 8-9, 2026. Registration at ifpapinball.com.

Geekin Out Pop Culture Convention — La Mirada August 2026
In 6 days · Aug 8 Holiday Inn La Mirada, 14299 Fires…

The specific joy of a small con is inventory - a dealer who has the exact 1980s action figure you've been chasing for a decade, with enough floor space that you can actually find it. Geekin Out is built for that: focused enough to draw serious collectors with deep inventory, accessible enough for a casual fan who just wants to browse. Organized by Toy Depot, this one-day toy and pop culture convention takes over the Holiday Inn La Mirada on August 8, 2026. The floor features vendors specializing in everything from original 1980s action figures and vintage board games to modern collectible figures and custom fan art, with a Creator Alley giving independent artists and craftspeople dedicated space to sell original work directly to attendees. It's family-friendly, with free parking in the hotel lot. The La Mirada location makes it a convenient option for collectors coming from the South Bay, Orange County, and the San Gabriel Valley. Doors open at 9am and the convention runs until 6pm. Advance ticket pricing is available through Eventbrite.
