The Hollywood Christmas Parade is one of the oldest and most watched holiday parades in the country, and it stays true to its hometown: the entertainment industry's presence is genuine because Hollywood is the parade's actual neighborhood. Grand Marshals, celebrity participants on floats, marching bands from across California, and themed floats from sponsors and community groups fill a two-hour route that runs from Orange Drive west along Hollywood Boulevard and turns south on Vine Street, covering the heart of the Walk of Fame. The parade typically draws 500,000+ in person plus a television broadcast audience. Grandstand seating along the route is available for purchase; curbside viewing is free from behind the grandstand areas. Hollywood Boulevard is accessible via the Metro Red Line (Hollywood/Highland Station), which is the recommended way in given the crowds - parking nearby is extremely limited. The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony returns in late November or early December 2026 — the exact date is typically announced in October, but the tradition is unmovable: NBC broadcasts the event live as one of the highest-rated specials of the holiday season, with major musical performances and celebrity appearances drawing tens of millions of viewers. But the real experience is standing in the plaza itself, surrounded by the skating rink below, the golden Prometheus statue, the Channel Gardens lined with illuminated wire angels, and the towering Art Deco facades of 30 Rock and the surrounding buildings, all watching a tree that took a crane and three days to install suddenly become the most photographed object in New York City.
