Front Row Card Show Pasadena 2026
Sep 5 – Sep 6, 2026 10.0 Pasadena Convention Center, 300 E …

Front Row Card Show Pasadena 2026 brings 770 tables of Pokemon, Magic: The Gathering, sports cards, comics, and collectibles to the Pasadena Convention Center for two full days in September. The organizer started Front Row Card Shows because SoCal collectors deserved a show run by people who understand the difference between a vendor event and a community event. Professional grading services set up on the floor. Serious trades happen at the tables. The Saturday Trade Night (5-9 PM, free to enter) is built for the people who come back after dinner to finish negotiations they started in the afternoon. 770 tables is not a number you hear at most card shows. It means the show is large enough that you will find the Pokemon Scarlet/Violet sealed product you have been hunting AND the vintage sports card graded PSA 8 from 1985 — in the same room, on the same afternoon. The scale creates the serendipity. What to know before you go: GA tickets are 0 in advance, 5 at the door. Kids 10 and under are free. VIP Early Entry gets you in before the public and first access to vendor tables — worth it for anyone chasing specific inventory. Saturday Trade Night (5-9 PM) is free with GA admission. The Pasadena Convention Center has paid parking in the attached garage. Front Row Card Shows have been running since 2022. They are not the flashiest brand in the card show circuit — no celebrity appearances, no hype influencer booths. They are the show that serious collectors tell each other about, which is why it draws serious inventory.

San Diego Comic Fest 2026
Sep 11, 2026 From $25 Town and Country Resort, 500 Hotel…

Comics as art form, not IP catalog. That's what Town and Country Resort becomes for three days in September — a Mission Valley hotel where the ballrooms and conference space turn into something the convention downtown can't replicate: a room where comics are the whole point, not a lane in a larger event. The guests are creators — writers, pencilers, inkers, colorists who want to talk about the work with people who care about the work rather than the IP attached to it. The panels go long because nobody is on a schedule designed for thirty thousand attendees. The dealers room has back issues, original art, and small press titles from publishers you haven't heard of yet. You can sit next to a creator whose work you've read for twenty years and have a real conversation, which doesn't happen in a Hall H line. The resort setting gives the event a pace that makes sense for three days — coffee in the morning, panels all afternoon, the hotel bar filling up with people still arguing about something from a 3 PM panel. If you care about comics specifically, this is the weekend. September 11–13 at Town and Country Resort, Mission Valley. From $25.

Rose City Comic Con 2026 — Portland, OR
Sep 11 – Sep 13, 2026 Oregon Convention Center, 777 NE M…

The Pacific Northwest version: September, Portland, three days at the Oregon Convention Center, comics and pop culture organized by people who genuinely love it. Three days of convention floor, panels, and programming across the Oregon Convention Center. The comics presence is genuine — this is a convention where you can spend hours in artist alley talking with independent creators, not just waiting in line for celebrity autographs. Celebrity guests span comics, film, and television, with signing and photo opportunities throughout the weekend. The cosplay scene is one of the strongest on the West Coast: the hall is dense with elaborate builds and the crowd treats it as a showcase. Gaming rooms, tabletop areas, and panel programming round out a schedule that can run ten hours a day for serious attendees. Rose City is built for people who care about comics as an art form — not just the IP franchises, but the creators and the medium itself. It is also genuinely family-friendly: the scale is accessible, the crowd is welcoming, and tickets are priced at $17–$105 depending on day and package. For cosplayers, the Portland fanbase means extraordinary hall costumes without the New York or San Diego Comic-Con crowds. If you have been priced or exhausted out of the bigger conventions, Rose City delivers the best of what those events promise at a fraction of the friction. Friday hours are 1 to 8 PM; Saturday 10 AM to 7 PM; Sunday 10 AM to 5 PM. The Saturday crowds are significantly denser — Sunday is the calmer entry point for first-timers. Artist Alley is the heart of the show; budget time and money for it. The Oregon Convention Center is served by Portland MAX light rail — the Convention Center stop drops you at the door, making a car unnecessary if you are staying downtown. Rose City Comic Con has become the essential West Coast convention for independent comics, occupying the space between the industry-scale San Diego Comic-Con and the grassroots spirit of smaller regional events. Portland's identity as a creative, DIY city gives the convention an energy distinct from LA or Bay Area equivalents. This is where you find what is coming in comics before it reaches mass market shelves.

FAN EXPO Dallas 2026 — Dallas, TX
Sep 11 – Sep 13, 2026 Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Ce…

The largest pop culture convention in Texas fills the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center for three days — every genre, 65,000 attendees, the full convention experience. Enter the convention floor on Saturday morning and the scope of FAN EXPO Dallas becomes clear immediately: this is a convention designed to hold the full range of fan culture under one roof without fragmenting it. The anime wing hosts voice actor signings and screening rooms; the gaming section has playable demos and tournament brackets; the horror area draws cult actors and practical effects artists; the comics floor features creators behind titles both mainstream and independent. Celebrity photo ops and autograph lines run throughout the weekend — FAN EXPO's booking operation is one of the most reliable in the industry, meaning the guests announced are the guests who show. The Cosplay Red Carpet on Saturday is a highlight: contestants from across Texas and the surrounding region bring builds that rival anything at the coastal mega-cons. The crowd energy at FAN EXPO Dallas skews genuinely enthusiastic rather than industry-transactional. FAN EXPO Dallas is for anyone who has ever wanted to see their favorite franchise represented at scale — not just as merchandise, but as community. If you are in Texas and you have been waiting for a convention that takes pop culture seriously, this is it. It is family-accessible without being dumbed down, competitive without being exclusionary, and large enough to spend a full day discovering things you did not plan for. First-timers frequently note how manageable the floor layout is compared to larger conventions despite the scale. The Friday preview session runs 4-9 PM and is notably less crowded than the weekend days — if you have a three-day pass, Friday evening is the best time to cover artist alley without competing for space. Celebrity photo ops sell out weeks before the event; book through the FAN EXPO app as soon as your guests are announced. The convention center is accessible from the Dallas Convention Center DART station, which is the practical choice on Saturday when surrounding parking fills. Bring a battery pack — you will be on your phone for the app schedule, maps, and photo documentation all day. Saturday afternoon sessions are the peak crowd window; Sunday morning is the quietest time slot. FAN EXPO Dallas earns its place on Falkor Nation's Best list because Texas has earned a proper flagship pop culture convention and this is it. The Dallas edition has grown into the defining fan event for the entire South-Central region — the convention that people in Houston, Austin, Oklahoma City, and beyond mark on their calendars. For anyone who loves genre entertainment and has not yet made the trip, FAN EXPO Dallas 2026 is the year. September 11-13 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, Dallas. Tickets at fanexpohq.com/fanexpodallas.

San Diego Comic Fest 2026 — Day 2
Sep 12, 2026 From $20 Town and Country Resort, 500 Hotel…

Town and Country Resort, 500 Hotel Circle N, San Diego. September 13th. From $20. Day 2 of San Diego Comic Fest — the day when the first round of panels has already fired, the dealer room has been walked, and the convention finds the slower, more personal version of itself that people come back for year after year. Day 2 at Comic Fest is the day for the conversations. The creators in artist alley have met the people who know their work and are now talking about the next thing, the process, the reading that influenced the book you've been carrying around since yesterday. The panels are smaller and run longer because the audience is smaller and knows what it wants to ask. The hotel bar from the night before has created the kind of familiarity that makes a two-day convention feel like a community. From $20 at comic-con.org. Sunday at a boutique convention at the right scale is the day that earns the trip. The Town and Country Resort in Mission Valley handles this format well — human-scale rooms, the pool, the comfortable distance from the Gaslamp. If comics are specifically what you're there for, Day 2 is the day the show belongs to you.

The Lowrider Super Show comes to the Los Angeles Convention Center for a full-day celebration of lowrider culture, custom car artistry, and the communities that built this uniquely American art form. This show brings together hundreds of meticulously built lowriders, custom trucks, motorcycles, and bicycles from throughout Southern California and beyond. The show floor features hydraulic competitions, airbrushed panels, candy paint displays, wire wheel collections, and interiors that represent decades of craft passed down through families and neighborhoods. This is not a static car show — hydraulic hoppers bounce on schedule, sound systems pound, and the culture is fully on display from open to close. The Los Angeles Convention Center provides 720,000 square feet of indoor show space, meaning no weather concerns and a truly immersive environment. Food vendors and merchandise booths line the show floor. Trophy presentations happen throughout the day across multiple categories, from Best Paint and Best Interior to Best Hydraulics and Hall of Fame. Tickets are available in advance at the door. If you have any interest in lowrider culture, custom car artistry, Chicano art, or the community history behind the scene, this show delivers it all in one place. Little Tokyo Anime and Culture Night -- Los Angeles September 2026
Sep 12, 2026 327 E 2nd St, Los Angeles, CA 90012

Little Tokyo in downtown Los Angeles is the oldest Japanese American community in the country and on weekend evenings it functions as the unofficial gathering point for LA-area anime and Japanese culture fans. The stretch of 1st and 2nd Street between Central and Alameda runs izakayas, ramen shops, Anime Jungle with dedicated anime merchandise, Kinokuniya Books, and coffee shops where people sit for hours discussing shows. The monthly Anime and Culture Night draws the community that lives here year-round, not just the convention crowd that shows up twice a year. Street performers, pop-up cosplay groups, and informal meetups fill the sidewalks from early evening into the night. Browse Anime Jungle for figures, tapestries, and limited releases. Kinokuniya carries Japanese-language manga, artbooks, and music releases alongside English-language anime. The ramen spots fill up fast. Arriving by 6:30pm avoids the longest waits at Ichiran, Daikokuya, and Shin-Sen-Gumi. The Metro Gold Line stops at Little Tokyo/Arts District station. Street parking is available on surrounding blocks. No ticket or registration required. Monthly on the second Saturday.

Makuhari Messe, Chiba, Japan. September 17-20, 2026. Tokyo Game Show is the annual announcement moment for the global games industry — the one event where Japanese publishers reveal what the next twelve months of gaming looks like, before Western press conferences catch up, before trailers hit YouTube, before the internet has had time to tell you what to feel about it. TGS operates at a scale that requires the convention center that hosts it — Makuhari Messe fills across four days with playable demos of unreleased titles, publisher stage shows, and the specific atmosphere of seeing a game played in front of you by someone who made it and is watching your reaction. The announcements that land at TGS tend to land before the rest of the world is paying attention. The full broadcast and stream schedule is at tgs.cesa.or.jp — the public days run September 19-20 and stream internationally. If you're following development from any major Japanese studio, this is the event where you find out what the next year holds. Watch parties and viewing events run at gaming venues across San Diego and Los Angeles during the major stage shows. Check Eventbrite and gamesync.us for local viewing events as the show dates approach. The announcements hit fastest in the room. The stream hits fastest with the right crowd around you.

Fantastic Fest 2026 — Austin, TX
Sep 17 – Sep 24, 2026 Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar, 1120…

Fantastic Fest programs horror, science fiction, and genre film that wouldn't survive a studio committee. Eight days at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, September 17–24, where winning Best Film means your movie is genuinely frightening. Eight days of screenings at the Alamo Drafthouse, which means dinner and drinks at your seat during the film. The selection spans international premieres and US debuts, with a curatorial ethos that prizes the strange over the safe. The programming deliberately refuses to be rigid about genre: the umbrella covers anything that warrants the label weird. Secret screenings are a Fantastic Fest signature — you sit down not knowing what you are about to see, and the audience often does not learn the title until moments before it begins. Beyond films: trivia nights, drag shows, karaoke, live bands, and stunts that have included burying audience members alive and hosting sideshow performances. The festival has been called Austin's strangest week of the year — which is saying something. If you have opinions about horror, science fiction, or cult cinema — especially if those opinions run ahead of the mainstream — Fantastic Fest is your event. Films that premiere here regularly go on to win awards and achieve strong box office returns months later. The badge experience includes access to parties at the Highball, the venue adjacent to the Drafthouse. This is a festival for people who want to see what is coming before it arrives. Fan Badges cover the full eight-day festival. Second-Half Badges run September 21–24 and include parties and Highball access. Industry Badges provide daily press and industry screenings. Check fantasticfest.com for current availability — badge categories sell out early. Secret screening seats fill fastest; arrive early if you want one. The Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar runs multiple simultaneous screenings across several auditoriums, giving you real choices when scheduling conflicts arise. Fantastic Fest in 2026 is the 21st edition of an event that started as a scrappy Austin experiment and became the definitive American destination for genre cinema. In a moment when horror and science fiction dominate global streaming conversations, Fantastic Fest remains the place where the most adventurous versions of those genres get their first real audience. Sitting in that Drafthouse auditorium surrounded by people who drove in from five states for this week is the feeling that makes the badge worth every dollar.

The format is structured: multiple rounds of general knowledge questions with themed rounds mixed in throughout the night. The host keeps the pace moving, the scoring is honest, and the prizes at the end are real — gift cards for first and second place, and the kind of bragging rights that a regular pub quiz crowd actually respects. Sign-ups start at 6 PM; the quiz kicks off at 7 PM sharp. Teams of one to six people. Shakespeare Pub & Grille, 3701 India St, San Diego, CA 92103. Golden State Tattoo Expo
Sep 18 – Sep 20, 2026 Pasadena Convention Center, 300 E …

The Pasadena Convention Center, September 18-20, 2026. The Golden State Tattoo Expo brings several hundred artists from across the country to one floor — flash and custom work, traditional and neo-traditional and realism and Japanese and styles that resist category — and the three days it runs are the closest thing to a museum of living tattooing that California produces. The expo floor rewards time. The artists with the longest waitlists are here in person, with open books, taking consultations at booths that don't require a months-long application process. The artists you haven't discovered yet are two aisles over. Walking the floor slowly, watching work in progress, talking to artists about technique and influence and what they're currently exploring — that is the event, not just the booths. If you've been sitting on a piece, this is the weekend to move on it. If you're not getting tattooed, the level of work on display is worth seeing as craft. Competitions run throughout the weekend; watching the judging gives you a vocabulary for what separates technically good from exceptional. Tickets at goldenstatetattooexpo.com. September in Pasadena is ideal weather for spending a day inside a convention center and coming out with something permanent on your skin.

Got Sole returns to the Los Angeles Convention Center on September 19, 2026 — one of the premier sneaker, trading card, collectibles, streetwear, and vintage luxury events on the West Coast. Got Sole has carved its own niche by combining sneaker culture with the broader collectibles community: graded trading cards, vintage streetwear, luxury resale, and limited-edition collectibles share the floor with sneaker vendors in a single curated marketplace. For buyers, Got Sole offers direct access to hundreds of verified sellers — no bots, no app markups, prices set by collectors who know exactly what they have. Grails show up here that you will not find in apps: deadstock from the early 2000s, vintage Nike tees, first-edition sealed trading cards, and collaboration pieces that never restocked. The authentication culture at Got Sole is strong. For sellers, the event provides direct access to thousands of serious collectors in a single day. General admission gets you onto the floor; vendor tables require advance registration on the Got Sole website. The Los Angeles Convention Center is in downtown LA, accessible via the Metro Blue and Silver Lines. September in Los Angeles is consistently dry and warm. Arrive early — the best pieces move within the first hour of doors opening. This is the fall anchor for the Southern California sneaker and collectibles community.

That someone set up 425 tables of sports cards, comics, and collectibles inside Town and Country Resort, hired CGC to grade cards on-site and JSA to authenticate autographs, and built in $1,000 shopping spree giveaways and free swag bags for the first 200 through the door each day. This is Front Row Card Show — two days in September at one of San Diego's most accessible convention venues. The floor is the mix you would expect if you built the hobby from scratch: raw cards and graded slabs, vintage comics and modern sets, sports memorabilia alongside new releases. Dealers range from the serious slab hunters to the weekend box-breakers, and CGC grading with JSA autograph authentication available on the show floor means you are not just shopping — you are doing real hobby work. September brings Nerd Night back to Twisted Horn Mead & Cider in Murrieta for the monthly gathering of board game players, tabletop role-playing enthusiasts, miniature painters, and anyone who self-identifies as a nerd in the affectionate Southern California sense of that word. September's Nerd Night carries the energy of the fall gaming season opening — new releases from Gen Con are making their way into circulation, the convention summer is over, and everyone is ready to settle into long-form gaming again. Twisted Horn's taproom provides communal tables sized for game components, a rotating mead and cider selection that moves into fall flavors in September, and the kind of kitchen that produces actual food rather than bar snacks. The staff runs the evening with the understanding that three-hour gaming sessions are not only expected but welcomed. The September Nerd Night format is drop-in — no reservation, no organized schedule, no entry requirement. Bring your games. Come ready to learn games others bring. The regulars form the core of each month's gathering and are consistently welcoming to newcomers who show up unsure what to expect.
