You can walk right up to the person whose comic you love — at a table, no wristband lottery, no six-hour line — which at this point in convention history feels almost radical. That's the case for the smaller sibling of the San Diego behemoth an hour south: Long Beach stayed the size where the whole thing is still reachable, and reachable is the entire appeal.

It's still built around comics — the publisher rows, the artist alley, the writers and artists who come because this crowd is here for the pages — and the celebrity guests do their panels and signings at tables you can actually get to. The cosplay is genuinely strong because the community takes it seriously and the room is the right size to see it properly. Two days, right on the water, the Pike a short walk when you need lunch.

Long Beach Convention Center — September 5–6, 2026, from $34 at longbeachcomiccon.com, parking in the center structure. Saturday's the busy day; Sunday's the same floor with shorter lines. This is the one that still feels like a convention instead of a product launch.
