San Diego Anime Rave (WeTouchGrass)
Today · Jul 25 – Jul 26 2028 Hancock Street, San Diego, CA…

Somebody decided that the songs you only ever felt alone — the openings, the OSTs, the themes that hit a nerve no one around you understood — deserved a thousand people and a wall of sound. So they built a dance floor for them. This is the night your most private obsession becomes the loudest thing in the room. The DJ drops an opening you'd know in two notes and the whole floor loses it at once, because everyone here loves the same thing you do at the same embarrassing volume. Cosplay or street clothes, it doesn't matter — the only dress code is "you already know why you're here." It lands on the Saturday of the biggest fandom week of the year, when the city is full of people who came a long way to be among their own. For one night the thing you usually keep to yourself is the reason a roomful of strangers feel like home. Saturday, July 25, 2026, doors 9PM at Spin Nightclub, 2028 Hancock Street, San Diego, CA 92110. 21+.

IchigoCon 2026 — Gaming + Anime Oxnard
Aug 15, 2026 Oxnard Performing Arts Center, 800…

Ventura County has spent years being the place you leave to find your people — an hour to San Diego, an hour to LA, a drive and a crowd on the other end. IchigoCon is the answer the community built for itself: proof that you don't need to be in a major metro to have a real fandom gathering, just people who care enough to make one. It's run by the nonprofit behind the Oxnard Performing Arts Center, which gives it a genuine arts-and-culture weight most hotel-hall cons never get — a single, packed day of gaming tournaments, anime screenings, voice-actor guests, a vendor hall, and a cosplay competition, all tightly run. For fans from Ventura, Santa Barbara, and the western Valley, this is the home con, the place local fandom actually forms instead of just briefly gathering in someone else's crowd. Oxnard Performing Arts Center, August 15 — a single-day pass, details and cosplay-contest registration at IchigoCon's page as the date nears. The show that deserves more attention than it gets, which is exactly the kind that grows.

SoCal Pokemon Regional Championship — Anaheim 2026
In 14 days · Aug 8 – Aug 9 Disneyland Hotel Convention Center…

The room smells like fresh card sleeves and barely contained adrenaline. Every table is a quiet war between two people who've been thinking about this matchup since Tuesday. The SoCal Pokemon Regional Championship returns to the Disneyland Hotel Convention Center on August 8-9, 2026 — the largest competitive Pokemon TCG event in Southern California. This isn't a casual league night. Regionals draw hundreds of players across Junior, Senior, and Master divisions, all competing for Championship Points, prize money, and the kind of bragging rights that only matter to people who understand why they matter. The side event schedule is stacked: open play, casual leagues, vendor floor access with Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece TCG, Disney Lorcana, and Dragon Ball Z Fusion World dealers. If you've ever explained to someone that your deck isn't meta but it works — this is where you prove it or retire the line. Two days, hundreds of players, and the only convention center where you can buy a Charizard and ride Space Mountain in the same afternoon. Registration through the official Play Pokemon event page. Spectator access included with event entry.

10th Annual Lightsaber World Championships — SDCC Balboa Park 2026
Today · Jul 25 1549 El Prado, San Diego, CA 92101

Every year during Comic-Con week, after the sun drops behind the eucalyptus trees and the fountain at Balboa Park catches the last of the light, dozens of people who own lightsabers they built themselves gather to find out who among them can actually fight with one. The Lightsaber World Championships is exactly what it sounds like and exactly as serious as you hope it is. This is the tenth year. What started as a handful of enthusiasts swinging illuminated polycarbonate tubes has evolved into a competitive circuit with choreographed duels, freestyle battles, and the kind of crowd energy that only happens when spectators realize they are watching something genuinely athletic wrapped in something genuinely nerdy. The fighters train. The choreography is real. The sabers crack when they connect. It is sport cosplay elevated to performance art, and the Balboa Park Fountain provides a backdrop that makes every duel look like a movie scene someone forgot to CGI. Free to attend as a spectator. Saturday, July 25, at sundown. No badge required. No reservation needed. Just walk through the park until you hear the hum and the cheering and the unmistakable sound of two people who have been practicing for months trying to disarm each other with weapons from a galaxy far, far away. Bring the kids. They will not forget it.

Comic Tron - Comic Con After Party
Today · Jul 25 – Jul 26 1337 India Street, San Diego, CA 9…

The convention center goes dark at six, but the people inside it don't power down — they just need somewhere to put the charge. That's the whole reason a tribute act spent years building replica chromed helmets, a full-scale pyramid stage, and electro-luminescent suits that glow like the inside of a game grid. They believe the best hours of Comic-Con week aren't on the floor at all — they're after, when the badge comes off and the costume stays on and a room full of strangers turns out to be exactly your people. Little Italy's Music Box becomes a Tron sequence for one night: futuristic beats, glowing everything, an "Alive 2007"-style spectacle that treats Daft Punk like scripture. Cosplayers, ravers, and the SDCC crowd who refuse to call it a night all end up under the same lights. You do not need a Comic-Con badge to walk in. Doors at 8PM, the night ignites at 9PM, Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Music Box, 1337 India Street, San Diego, CA 92101. Tickets through Belly Up.

We Touch Grass: Anime Rave Convention After Party — San Diego
Today · Jul 25 – Jul 26 Spin Night Club, 2028 Hancock St, …

We Touch Grass brings the anime rave to San Diego during Comic-Con weekend. Spin Night Club becomes the room where the convention crowd goes to let the cosplay breathe and the bass hit different. Touch Grass Entertainment has been running anime raves across the country, building a circuit where the soundtrack is J-pop remixes, anime OSTs turned club bangers, and the energy of a crowd that spent all day at panels and needs the night to match. This is the after-party the anime community shares in group chats before the official schedule drops. Saturday night of SDCC week. 9 PM until late. Spin Night Club, 2028 Hancock St, San Diego, CA 92110.

San Diego Comic-Con 2026 — Sunday
Tomorrow · Jul 26 From $50 San Diego Convention Center, 111 W…

Four days of maximum input produce a loose, generous, overstimulated crowd that is genuinely fun to be inside - and Sunday is the day the cosplay hits full intensity because it is the last chance. This is the version of Comic-Con that keeps people coming back year after year, once the floor has been walked and the big Hall H panels have already fired. The Exhibit Hall has deals that did not exist Thursday - publishers moving stock, creators selling what is left of their limited prints. The announcements have already happened; what remains is the experience. The Convention Center floor in late July, harbor visible through the glass, fifty thousand people who flew in from everywhere - nothing replicates it. Badges at this level do not linger. If Sunday is your entry point into SDCC, take it - it is a real day. San Diego Convention Center, July 26th. From $50 for a badge on the final day.

Padres vs. SF Giants
In 5 days · Jul 30 – Aug 3 From $20 Petco Park, 100 Park Blvd, San Die…

There is a Bay Area transplant living three doors down from you in San Diego, and when the Giants come to town he wears the colors to Petco without apology - the right-field bleachers take on a whole different character during this series. This is the oldest rivalry in the NL West, thirty-plus years of two California clubs fighting over the same playoff real estate, playing each other more than any out-of-division opponent. Late July at Petco is the stadium in full summer mode: weeknight sold-outs, the NL West standings close enough that three games directly move the pennant picture. The Giants travel with one of the most geographically concentrated and loyal away fan bases in baseball, which gives the whole series an edge a divisional midweek set usually lacks. This one matters. Show up for it. The San Francisco Giants visit Petco Park on July 30.

Happening Now

No corporate backing, no major label - just fans building the scene they wanted to exist, and it is one of the most organic community formations happening in SoCal nightlife right now. This is not a watch party or a convention panel. It is a club night built entirely around anime culture: DJ sets spanning J-pop, anime OSTs, city pop edits, and hyperpop, a crowd that shows up in cosplay and stays on the dance floor. The anime rave format has been spreading across multiple cities under the Touch Grass Entertainment banner, and the San Diego edition is part of that expanding circuit - consistent shape every time: a 21+ venue, DJ sets from 9 PM to 2 AM, cosplay-friendly, community-forward. Venue and exact address get announced via the Touch Grass Entertainment social channels closer to the date; check touchgrassent.live for updates and advance ticket links, because capacity is limited and these sell out. If the anime rave circuit filling in across SoCal is your kind of scene, WeTouchGrass San Diego is the door in.

You found your people.

They didn't know each other before Falkor either.
