Manufacturers do not bring a concept car to Los Angeles as a courtesy. They bring it because this is the largest car market in the country, and whatever gets shown here is what the rest of the year will be arguing about.
So the debuts land in November: production reveals, model-year firsts, and the concepts that may never be built at all, sitting within arm's reach on a carpet in a convention hall. The performance houses — Lamborghini, Ferrari, McLaren, Porsche, BMW M, Mercedes-AMG — build standalone rooms no dealership would ever let you walk into, and put the cars where you can actually look inside them.
The EV hall has reshaped the whole event in recent years, with legacy manufacturers running electrified lineups beside combustion ones. Public days run from late in the month into early December, and the Metro drops you at the door.
Go with the friend who had the poster on their wall. Watch them go quiet.
